The Top 3 Summer Fruits

Summer fruits are so very healthy for you. I gladly recommend that you include at least one per day, even if you are a diabetic.

That's right, you, the diabetic, can have fruit: When It's Part Of A Good Diet!
Now, if you're eating a bad diet, you haven't read much of these posts. Or I'm just amusing. Go apply this stuff and you'll be so much healthier.
But, back to the fruits. Summer fruits are simply the best because you can get them at you local farmer's market. They are riper, fresher, and tastier. Plus, when fruit is left to ripen on the vine, it contains tremendous amounts of nutrition.
We developed a sweet tooth in order to find ripe, nutritious food. The sweetness told us it was healthy. Today, we mess that us with refined sugars.
But Summer Fruit Is Healthy!
My Picks:
Watermelon
This is the quintessential summer fruit. It's loaded with nutrition and water. Lycopene and Citrulline rank high for heart health, head pain prevention (headaches & migraines), cancer prevention, and eye health.
Plus, it's a powerful anti-inflammatory. Just eat about a cup and watch it work! (This does not work when you eat processed foods, however)
Blueberry
There are more anti-oxidants in this summer fruit than a whole bottle of pills. That's because we actually absorb the anti-oxidants from the blueberry, but not the pill. Eat them fresh. The anthocyanin is what researchers are going ga-ga over because it can do everything from preventing cancer to prolonging life.
And it's all in the blueberry!
Raspberry
One of the most fascinating new areas of raspberry research involves the potential for raspberries to improve management of obesity. Those raspberry ketones Dr Oz promoted (that ended up killing some people) actually do help you to lose weight. But, when processed into a pill, you lose the buffers and nutrition. In the fresh fruit, you can eat all you want without side effects (well, maybe a red tongue and red poop).
Plus, 1 cup of raspberries has half (50%) of our requirements for Vitamin C.
Now, combine those all into a large fruit salad, top with a bit of yogurt, mash it all it, freeze it and you get... Ice Cream!
Notice I didn't say anything about guava, mangos, pineapples, kiwi, or star fruit. That's because all tropical fruit is picked young and forced to ripen using chemicals. That's not healthy, they are summer fruit. If you travel to an area where you can get these fresh and local, go for it! You'll taste the difference.
So, eat up!
