Heart Healthy Recipes Are on the Rise

There are tons of heart healthy recipes that are delicious and good for you. With heart disease being the number one killer in the United States today, many are trying to change their diets in hopes of retaining a healthy long life. It is important to maintain a diet that is low in saturated fat and high in fiber. A fat that has been deemed a good fat is omega-3s, this fat is helping all of us to be able to still enjoy the food we love without risking our health in the long run.

The old fashioned term of simply exercising to remain healthy is not the only thing that you should be concerned about. In order to be healthy you need to focus on what you're putting into your body. You don't need to start off with drastic changes to your diet at first, gradually work yourself into them. Keep in mind that eating heart-healthy does not mean you have to give up your favorite foods, its simply finding healthier ways to prepare them.
One of my personal favorite heart-healthy recipes is for a Caesar salad. I know everyone has had a Caesar salad before and saw no real benefit to it. Let me explain how to prepare this delicious salad that not only tastes good but it good for you.
Get two Portabella mushrooms, remove the stems and gills. Layer the mushroom with a light brushing of olive oil. Place the mushrooms on a grill for about 5-7 minutes or until they are tender. In a small bowl, mix lemon juice, red wine vinegar, garlic and whisk in some mayonnaise. Then slice the mushrooms on top of some lettuce add cheese and you now have yourself a delicious heart healthy recipe that you and the whole family can enjoy.
